At-home, rapid antigen testing Rapid antigen tests can be taken at home. They have lower sensitivity than PCR tests, so a negative rapid test should be repeated according to the instructions on the box. There are LOTS of options for free rapid tests in Wisconsin:
IMPORTANT: The FDA recommends repeat testing if you have symptoms, but your at-home antigen test is negative. Viral levels rise quickly at the beginning of an illness and vaccinated people can show symptoms before viral levels are high enough to be detected. That's why COVID test kits are sold in sets of 2 or more. |
In-person testing If you have symptoms of COVID-19, consider getting a PCR test (only offered in-person). Public Health of Madison & Dane County lists current in-person testing sites here: publichealthmdc.com/coronavirus/testing/testing-sites School testing might be an option if you have a family member enrolled in a local public school or university. Contact your school for testing options. |
